So, I'm not alone in this project. In fact, this project is partially due to a running buddy of mine recently having a bit of a "moment" around her own running and training. Long story short, she'd got so focussed on races, and the inevitable comparisons other peoples running/training/results, that she wasn't running for herself, her capabilities, her goals. Helping her to figure out why she was struggling with her running, got me thinking. It highlighted similar issues I have. But more surprisingly, it inspired me. And when I explained this idea to her, it clicked for us both.
So it was nice that we started the HYSN together, today. It was only a short section - from Aldgate to Mylor, but a section she'd never run, despite it being only a 20 min drive away. See, that getting caught in the same old, same old?
So with her head full of cold (thanks kids!) and a wet and wild weather forecast, we ran this small section, slowly, but no particular pace was needed; just the first few kilometres to be ticked off.
We looped around and joined another trail to give us a 12km-ish run and start the journey. There were moments of sun before the weather turned to the forecast rain and cold wind. But it was all good...
